JOB HUNTING IN SINGAPORE

As you have read on previous post on this blog, all about Singapore. Now, I would like to share some of my own Guidelines, if you want to go job hunting here in Singapore. Here, you can learn different types of job hunting.

Job hunters must know how to conduct a successful job search, in order for them to land on the job they want. Some may be already looking in the NET, but still they are not sure what they really want and ends up checking & updating their friendster account... :)

Doing job hunt is not that easy, specially when your dying to have a job, because your electric, water, telephone and internet bill are already in-disconnections! If you, (job hunter/seeker) want to have a job or career, you better sit down with your pen and paper, and start doing your planner.

As of my experiences, I am often called upon to give advice regarding the how to start a job hunt, specially here in Singapore.

Job hunting is one of those tasks in human life that can cause a great deal of stress.
Unless, your born with a gold spoon in your hands! :)
The main cause of this stress is the fact that you have to sell yourself to others, usually the strangers (EMPLOYERS), with little or no training in how to sell yourself.

This situation, it's similar to asking someone out on a date - if the answer is no, it means your not his/her type and that's somehow stressful and yet also painful. As a result, many people do as little as possible when attempting to find employment hoping that, through some miracle, a job will fall into their hands.

Finding employment is a task that requires certain knowledge and skills in order to complete successfully - knowledge and skills that you can easily develop.

Here are the some helpful tips look those jobs that you want.

1. INTERNET SURFING
-This first tip are mostly use by those people who wants to find the job their looking for, by just one click and applicable also for those Filipino na nasa Philippines pa.
- Job hunters/seeker, here are some things you must do:
* You must prepare your pen and paper- this is for your own "black and white" copy.
* List down the websites you want to visit, and check and cross down the things you already
visited/finished.
* Pag nag-visit kayo sa isang website better sign up and also submit your updated resume, dun lang sa gusto nyong job, kayo mag-submit.

2. NEWSPAPERS
-if you are already here in Singapore, looking for job. You may buy "The Straits Times"
newspaper every Saturday only, at the classified adds section, they post job hiring/vacancy.
ng work and kung wala kayong sariling computer,
must cheaper ito kaysa, renting per hour sa
mga internet cafe dito sa Singapore).

3. AGENCIES (IN PHILIPPINES AND IN SINGAPORE)
- Kung kayo ay nasa Pilipinas pa, and you want to try looking jobs at agencies.
May dapat kayo malaman regarding agencies, for Filipino na gustong mag-agency sa Pinas:

ADVANTAGES & THINGS TO KNOW WHEN YOU APPLY
THROUGH AGENCY IN PHILIPPINES:

7. Sila ang nakikipag-communicate sa inyong mga Employer.
(you have the rights to know, such information, specially when these pertains to your application.)

DIS-ADVANTAGES OF HAVING/APPLYING THROUGH AGENCY IN PHILIPPINES

1. They have the power to increase the processing fee of your application,
since they are the one doing the job hunt for you.
2. Some may also, neglect your application, if you didn't meet the qualification of your first employer.
3. Some of the terms and conditions are not met.(like giving you false hope, paaasahin kayo na ang work ninyo ay kung ano ang inaaplyan ninyo, pero pag-dating dito sa Singapore ay iba)
4. Some of expected salary are not met, also.
5. At iba pang bagay na sinisingil bukod sa processing fee.

AGENCY IN SINGAPORE

ADVANTAGES

1. No more hustle for you surfing the NET, since your agency will be the one to look for the job you prefer.
2. They will be the one, to process your papers, as well as your pass. Some agency will also give you a chance to
choose what pass you prefer, but some give conditions regarding the pass you want.
3. Some agency will help you land the job, that suits your work experience and as well your degree.
4. Some agency gives higher salary more than you expect.(pero bihira lang ito ha!)
5. Some also provides lodging or some help you find lodging/renting bedspace.
6. Some of agency here in Singapore, helps you find another job, if you and your employer
had mis-understanding/terminates you, regarding your work.
ng pass but if you are looking for long term better hunt job on your on.

DIS-ADVANTAGES

1.Some of Staffing Agencies here, tends to increase processing fees,
specially when they know you are dying to have a work & stay here in singapore.
2. Some give other conditions like:
-some training ka for 3 months bago ka iapply ng pass, it's like your application is hang!
ang ibibigay nilang salary, yun ngalang you have a nice pass,

Hanggang sa muling blog... keep on viewing kababayan!
